Killarney Marathon organiser denies excluding blind athlete Sinead Kane
This race is due to take place on the 14th of May 2016. I wont be doing this race. What have I learnt about my experience of trying ‘to enter’ this race – that barriers do face runners with disabilities trying to enter races. In the year 2016, this type of thing should not be happening. A guide runner is my eyes. I should not be penalised for my disability and this is effectively what was required of me.
I look forward to other races around the country where my guide runner is welcomed as well. Onwards and upwards to my next race.
