The 2024 theme is amplify the leadership of persons with disabilities to help create an inclusive and sustainable future for all.
We can all contribute to the creation of a more inclusive and diverse community for the 1.1 million people living with a disability in Ireland. Worldwide there is 1.6 billion people with disabilities.
Making sure everyone has the same opportunities to participate in every aspect of life is a shared responsibility by all.
As a person with a disability since birth - blindness - everyday is disability day for me. There is no finish line. My disability has taught me so much about life. Lessons that are only gained through experience.
What’s my biggest ask of you all today? I ask that you do your utmost to be inclusive *every* day, not just this one day.
