Aisling highlighted how yesterday yet AGAIN she was asked to leave a shopping centre in Cork city because of her guide dog Kali. Interestingly, yesterday was International Day For People With Disabilities. #IDPWD2024
So to answer the all too often question that I get - Is disability moving forward in 2024? Clearly not.
This is happening too often. I could list numerous examples. Yet, society just thinks because there is equality legislation in place that it must not happen but it does.
Hopefully, atitudes towards disability will change for the better in the future. Hopefully, employers and management staff will start actually training their staff on equality law and policy.
My sister deserves an apology from the management staff of the shopping centre in Cork city.
