Blind ultrarunner Sinead Kane discusses guide runners and the impact they have made on her life. Being blind or having partial vision does not need to stop you from enjoying running as a sport, exercise or recreational activity. You may need to change how you do it, but there is definitely no reason that lack of sight needs to stop you from being active. Personality is key to being a good guide runner. Also a guide runner must be the eyes for the blind athlete who is depending on the guide runner to give feedback. Communication and teamwork are very important to a successful partnership between the guide runner and blind athlete.
