3rd International Cap representing Ireland on Sunday at the Anglo Celtic Plate 100k, Perth, Scotland. Five nations competed - Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, England, and Wales. A great experience - the past 2 days I have just been taking it all in. What an honour to put on the Green Singlet again and represent Ireland. The Irish women's team achieved bronze. Well done ladies - Trisha, Deirdre, Anne. It was amazing to be on a team with you all. The Irish men's team did very well also. Amazing performance by Padraig Mullins - first Irishman home. Well done to the other lads - Barry, Dave, Ed, Matthew. Thanks to John - team manager - for all the great support and photos. Thanks Louis, Anto and all others who crewed and provided support. Thanks to Chris from COJO films who came along to film me. Thanks also to Hanley Energy for supporting the Irish team.
Achieved a personal best which was great but my time isn't where I want it to be so I have alot more work to do. I'm still learning and developing. It was a privilege to be surrounded by Ireland's best ultra runners.
My race experience was going to be a bit different to everyone else because of my vision impairment. I need guide runners to compete in races. Once I was selected, I had to go straight into planning mode and figure out who would guide me. Thankfully, the wonderful Debbie and Karen took all that stress and worry away from me. Debbie put me in contact with Karen and then Karen organised all the guides. She did this all voluntarily. Karen has experience of guiding so she had the empathy to know what would be needed. Thank you so much Karen. I will be forever grateful. I am also grateful to every guide who 1st put themselves forward and 2nd who ran with me. Thank you Emma, kristen, Gail, Chris, Stuart, Alan.
Looking forward to making more memories in the future. 100k Anglo Celtic Plate, Perth, Scotland - 03/04/22 complete.
