Habit Stacking

By: Sinead Kane

Habit stacking is that you build routines around simple habits that require little effort. If you want to build better habits, try breaking them down into smaller actions and stacking them into a single routine.

Pursuing goals requires patience, consistency, and vulnerability. Daily habits and habit stacking helps with pursuing goals. Marathon training is hard and requires alot of energy. For years now one habit that I have incorporated into my day is taking Revive Active to keep me energised and feeling good. I normally associate taking Revive Active with running so essentially these 2 habits have now become 1 habit.

Habit Stacking is a way to combine one habit with another habit you already do. Before long, both those tasks will essentially become the same habit. This is how I habit stack and build Revive Active into my daily routine. Example, I mostly run in the mornings. I will either take Revive Active before my run or after it. If I take it after my run then I will always leave the sachet in an obvious place such as near my water bottle or near the counter where I take off my shoes. So my routine normally is get in the door, get shoes off, get Revive Active into me and then go freshen up. Sometimes I will leave a sachet of Revive Active beside my laptop because I find it refreshing to drink during the day. The sachet also acts as a reminder to take a break from laptop to go get water to make the drink.

Look at your daily habits. Identify cues that can trigger new habits such as time, location (environment), and people.

Surround yourself with people who have the habits you want to have yourself.
