I am delighted to announce that I have accepted to be Honorary Ambassador for the Irish Girl Guides for the next year beginning September 2021 to August 2022. I feel grateful that the Irish Girl Guides voted for me from a list of nominees.
Anytime, I am offered any type of role I don’t automatically say yes. I like to think about it and see what I can bring to the table that adds value. I also like to work with people who have the same values. When I was younger I was a ‘Brownie’ and then a ‘Girl Guide’ for a short time so I knew a small bit about the organisation.
The Irish Girl Guides are a youth organisation whose aim is to provide a safe non-competitive space for girls and young women (age 5 years to 18 years.)
This year the organisation celebrates 110 years – a massive achievement for any organisation. I am inspired that the Irish Girl Guides strives to help their members reach their full potential through activities, new experiences, challenges, leadership roles, fun, friendship, and working in teams.
The Irish Girl Guides have a multi-dimensional programme and this year their members have been involved in STEM activities, robotics engineering, space badge, climate change and Sustainable Development goals.
I hope that I can inspire, motivate and empower the Irish Girl Guides as best I can.
