THÉA Pharma 8th annual National Glaucoma and Corneal Study day was held on Saturday, 2nd November 2024. I was delighted to be a guest speaker at the event.
It was an exciting opportunity to hear an expert line up of national and international speakers in the specialties of Glaucoma and Corneal Ophthalmology.
I was nervous giving my speech on Saturday as it not everyday you get to be in a room of Ireland's top eye doctors along with international experts. I think the speech went ok. My main job was to just tell my story and that what I did.

For years now, I have been using THÉA products as prescribed by my eye doctor. I use Timofluid at night for my Glaucoma. During the day I use Thealoz Duo for my dry eyes. These products are essential for my eyes. Hence, been asked to speak for the company who make these products was a special moment for me. Their eye drops are preservative free.
Unfortunately, the eye drops cannot cure glaucoma but they can slow down symptoms and the progression of this condition by decreasing and stabilising intra-ocular pressure.
First line treatment for primacy open-angle glaucoma is the installation of eye drops. They must be instilled at the same time each day, for life, and without interruption. Intra-ocular pressure can often by lessened solely by using eye drops.
Until now, eye drops contained preservatives to protect them from contamination after first opening. However, numerous local side effects were reported due to these preservative substances. For this reason new products were marketed, thanks to which open-angle glaucoma can now be treated with preservative-free eye drops, thus eliminating any long-term effects on eye structures.
