John and I completed the 9th edition of the Trans Sahara Marathon on Saturday 25th February.
It ended in Mhamid El Ghizlane. The race had athletes from many European countries and also very experienced moroccans including two female winners of Marathon des Sables.
The race was 140km over 4 stages. During these stages runners were able to discover the beautiful scenery and culture of Morocco/Sahara Desert - sand dunes, dried up rivers lined with rocks, natural Oasis and a lot more.
If you are a trail runner, mountain runner, or just looking for a fantastic race experience abroad I would highly recommend this race.
Mohammad organised a fantastic race and went to a very high standard to make sure that all athletes were looked after.
The 10th edition will take place 1st-9th March 2024.
Mohammad has another race in June called the Trans Atlas Marathon which might be of interest to some of you.
I will talk more about my experience over the coming days. A special mention has to go to Doctor Ilyas and the other medical staff who gave so much care and attention to me during the race. Thank you so much. I will be forever grateful.
Chris from COJO Films documented my experience and the documentary will be out later in the year. Watch this space.
