Vision Ireland has some very exciting news today! As a service user of Vision Ireland I had to share this news. I was born vision impaired. Technology and innovation over the years has made it easier for me to access the world around me as a vision impaired person. It is always exciting to have more advances.
Meta is donating 15,000 free Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses to Vision Ireland enough for every blind and visually impaired adult the charity supports.
This programme is free for eligible adults, offering transformative AI technology so that blind and low vision people can read everything from signage to documents, identify objects and access information about the world around them and live more independently.
Vision Ireland will offer hands-on training with every pair, funded by Meta, so that everyone receiving a device feels confident using the technology.
Eligible people who are blind or low vision can register their interest online via meta.vi.ie or via the dedicated phone number +353 1 882 1910. Vision Ireland will then manage a phased roll-out process from application, assessment, eligibility and selection through to in person training and support.
I am looking forward to receiving a free pair of Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses to test them.
A big thank you to Meta.
