Youghal Half Marathon - 11.08.24

,
By: Sinead Kane

The aim was

  • to get 1.40
  • to get a decent run done in prep for Berlin marathon next month.

Result

Time - 1.42.45.

I may not have got the time I wanted but there are alot of positives.

✅️ Running in my hometown of Youghal will always be special no matter what the distance or the time.

✅️ The support along the route was amazing.

✅️ Got to practice my fuelling.

Well done to all the athletes, the organisers, the marshals, the stewards, the water station attendants, and the public who came out in big numbers to support. It was a great day.

Hopefully the event will be back again next year so I can enter.

Interestingly, this is only my second official half marathon. Some of you might be surprised to hear that. My first official half marathon was in 2014 where I did the Cork half marathon in June 2014. The plan in that race was to do the half in 2hrs. The result was 1:49.06. It only took 10 yrs 😆 for me to do my second official half marathon and I am so happy that it was in Youghal.

Between 2014-2024 my running journey has been filled with plenty other adventures mainly ultras and that why running an official half marathon wasn't a priority for me.

My next official half marathon isn't going to take as long.😁

Guide runner - John O'Regan. Thank you for running the race with me.
