@johnoregan777 - guide runner
Shoes - Nike Vaporfly 4.
Fuel - A mouthful of Lucozade Sport during the race. I had great intentions to practice taking a gel - it didnt happen.
I wish all pb's could feel as good as today ![]()
I was anxious going into the race about the start in case I would fall.
Arrived at the race area around 7.45am and headed over towards bag drop and the Revive Active tent. The team at Revive Active are so friendly they made me feel very relaxed. It was great having that distraction. I was getting so relaxed I would have easily stayed at their tent. But I had to remind myself get a move on to do my warm up
Thankfully, we were let off 2mins before the main group which eased my anxiety. Those 2mins got added on at the end so even though the clock said 41.15 as I crossed the finish line my time is officially 43.15.
I wasnt anxious about a time because I wasnt going for a PB and so I felt relaxed. However, I wanted some focus so I decided on 46 mins.
The race started and I was enjoying myself. A few people saluted me along the route - spectators and fellow runners but because of the bad sight I didn't have a clue who was talking to me.
The race finished and I still felt strong so that gives me confidence for my forthcoming half marathon.
Once finished I went back over to the Revive Active tent where there was a great buzz. I wish all races could replicate today.
Thank you to guide runner @johnoregan777 today for getting me around safely ![]()
